How to Create a Custom Flag with Colonial Flag

Creating a custom flag with Colonial Flag is a straightforward process designed to help you bring your vision to life. Whether you’re designing a flag for your business, an event, or personal use, Colonial Flag’s expert team is committed to delivering a high-quality product tailored to your exact specifications.

With flexible size options and professional guidance on color and design, you’ll have everything you need to create a flag that stands out. Let’s dive into the details of how you can easily create a custom flag with Colonial Flag.

Submitting Your Artwork

Submitting your artwork for a custom flag is the first and most important step. You can upload your artwork and order your custom flag here. If you don’t have finished art or your design isn’t in a raster file, all you need to do is email your design to custom@colonialflag.com.

Raster files, like JPEGs or PNGs, often become blurry when enlarged. If you don’t have a vector file, don’t worry – our team of flag experts and designers can assist you by recreating your image in the correct format.

Providing the correct file format from the beginning helps avoid delays and makes sure your custom flag is produced with the highest quality possible.

Selecting PMS Colors for Accuracy

One of the most crucial aspects of creating a custom flag is color accuracy. Colonial Flag uses the Pantone Matching System (PMS), but we cannot guarantee an exact color match. Due to the machines used, we hold a 6% percent disclaimer for the size differential of the flag. Please be aware that the quality of your image may be different than the image provided due to printing on cloth rather than paper. We cannot print or reproduce any copywritten material.

If your design already has a PMS color code, simply provide it with your artwork. If you’re unsure, Colonial Flag can assist by referencing past materials like business cards or letterheads to find the correct color.

Detailing Fonts and Graphics

When submitting your custom flag design, it's important to either outline your fonts or package your design if you’re using Adobe software to contain the font within the file.

This way, your artwork remains consistent with your vision when our designers receive it.

This step helps prevent common issues that arise with font discrepancies, especially in logos or branding elements.

Reviewing the Mockup

Once your artwork is submitted and properly formatted, Colonial Flag will create a mockup of your design. This mockup serves as a preview of how your flag will look when produced. It includes details such as the colors, materials, and finishing touches.

During this stage, you’ll have the chance to review the mockup and request any changes.

Production, Shipping, and Handling

After you’ve approved the mockup, your custom flag moves into production. Colonial Flag uses high-quality materials and craftsmanship to bring your design to life.

Once production is complete, Colonial Flag offers shipping options to make sure your flag is delivered safely and on time. Each flag is carefully packaged to prevent damage during transit so it arrives in perfect condition. Whether you need a single flag or a large order, Colonial Flag’s shipping process is designed to accommodate your needs.

Common Questions & Troubleshooting

Creating a custom flag can raise a few common questions, and Colonial Flag is here to help. One of the most frequently asked questions is how to properly care for your flag. To extend the life of your flag, it's recommended to clean it when needed and avoid prolonged exposure to harsh weather conditions. Colonial Flag uses durable materials, but proper care will help your flag maintain its quality over time.

Our Rotations Program offers you and your flag individual attention from our highly experienced flag experts. Once your flag is purchased, our experienced flag experts will carefully store one repaired flag in a bin, specially designated to you, in our facility. We store one flag for each flag you are flying that is associated with your account.

At the time of your scheduled or requested rotation, we will travel to you, remove your tattered flag, and respectfully hoist your freshly repaired flag. Your tattered flag is then brought to our facility where it is repaired by our team and placed in your specially designated bin, awaiting another rotation.

If you encounter any issues with your flag, such as color inconsistencies or damage during shipping, Colonial Flag’s customer service team is ready to assist. We’ll work with you to resolve any problems quickly.
